Providing a timely boost to the G1 Poule d'Essai Pouliches prospects of Content (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), John Hennessy's Sea The Boss (GB) (Sea The Moon {Ger}–Shaella {Ire}, by Casamento {Ire}) captured Saturday's G3 Al Shira'aa Racing Irish EBF Jannah Rose S. at Naas to set her course towards the Irish Oaks. Only eighth behind that Ballydoyle peer in the G3 Staffordstown Stud S. at The Curragh when last seen in October, the Jessica Harrington trainee who was also behind Content when fourth in Leopardstown's Listed Ingabelle S. in September enjoyed the extra stamina test on this return to deny Madam Celeste (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) late on.

Unhurried early by Shane Foley as she raced behind her four rivals, the 7-2 shot had to come around them all turning for home but delivered a powerful surge to overhaul that Ger Lyons trainee in the final 50 yards and score by a neck. “She was good last year and I just ran her back too quick after the Champions Weekend. She doesn't go on soft ground,” Harrington explained. “It was a big ask for her, with three of them having already had a run this year. I thought fitness might catch her out, but she was good and stayed well. She has a turn of foot and showed us that last year, when she won her maiden. It's only her fourth run and she will come forward a good bit from this. She might end up in the Irish Oaks and will be moving up to a mile and a half.”

Pedigree Notes

Sea The Boss is the second foal out of Shaella (Ire) (Casamento {Ire}), a half-sister to the G3 Prix Edmond Blanc winner Skins Game (GB) (Diktat {GB}) and the listed scorer Epatha (Ire) (Highest Honor {Fr}) as well as to the dam of the G3 Prix du Lys winner Volkan Star (Ire) by Sea The Moon's sire Sea The Stars (Ire). Also connected to the G2 Prix de Royallieu winner Mouramara (Ire) (Kahyasi {Ire}), who is in turn the dam of the G1 Sydney Cup hero Mourayan (Ire) (Alhaarth {Ire}), and the G2 Lancashire Oaks winner and G1 Prix Vermeille runner-up Endless Time (Ire) again by Sea The Stars, Shaella has the 2-year-old colt Without Burlington (GB) (Without Parole {GB}) named Without Burlington (GB) who was a 50,000gns purchase by KPF Bloodstock at Tattersalls Book 2. She also has a yearling filly and colt foal by Masar (GB).
